End of summer...Beginning of a new family!

We have had such a wonderful summer. We have been to Colorado (without Parker), Syracuse, Cape Cod and spent the majority of the time at Sacandaga Lake, where we have our boat and spent last summer as well. Our lake house for the summer was wonderful, just a short walk from the lake and our boat. We had lot of friends and family visit and had such a great time. It was a wonderful place for me to rest my tired pregnant body and watch Parker grow even more!

The best thing this summer was watching Parker grow and learn more. He talks very well and has been using full sentences for the past couple of weeks. Some of his favorite sentences are the following:

"I do it. I do it."
"I coming! I coming!"
"I see it! I see it!"
"I love YOU!"
"No, I don't do it."
"I cook. Pasta?"
"I running!"
"I marching!"
"I jumping!"

Also, Parker has developed an affinity for donuts this summer. Yesterday he asked me, "Cook, doughnut? Please?" We might have to discontinue the doughnut consumption!

I have attached some of our favorite summer photos. Parker had a lot of fun with many of his cousins this summer (he has 15 of them!). He loves all of his cousins to much and they are all so good to him.

And now the big change of the Fall. In two days, our family grows into a family of four. I can't believe it. Parker seems to be ready for the change. He picked out a present for his new brother or sister, talks about him/her a lot and has been reading a book about being a big brother. We can't wait to meet him or her. It's been such a long wait, and the whole family is so curious!

We will post pictures of our new addition probably sometime this weekend!

Happy September!

Awaiting a brother or sister....only 2 months left!

Here is Parker doing something he does quite often, kissing my belly and saying "Baby." He loves babies and points them out wherever he sees them. I can't get enough of the affection, so I encourage it! Thought you all would like to see this sweet one!

And YES, that belly is HUGE!

Parker is a year and half!!!

On Parker's eighteen month birthday, I took him out for a little photoshoot at Saratoga Spa State Park where there was plenty of room for him to run. It was great. He, as you can see, is the best model and I loved playing with the camera.

Afterwards we went for ice cream at Humpty Dumpty's to celebrate his half birthday. A tradition we will keep for years to come!

Hope everyone is enjoying the first bit of summer, may the rain be gone!

Memorial Day Weekend!

Parker is becoming quite the little boy. He is always on the move, looking for new places to discover. He is talking up a storm- says Daddy, ball, bus, bath, please, walk, car, happy, orance, apple, applesauce, water, book, night-night and so much more!

Here's some great pictures from our awesome Memorial Day weekend.

Turnip!

Today, on my pregnanct update email, I learned our new little Gallagher is the size of a turnip. I remembered a poem I wrote for Parker when I was 17 weeks along with him and have decided to include it here.

Happy April everyone! Hope the sun continues to shine and Spring comes quick!

Turnip

Today, you are a turnip.

Already, to me, you are more.

You are the best speller in the class.
You have your father’s laugh.
You are a good listener and a good friend.
And maybe, just maybe, you have a face full of freckles.

You will be many more vegetables and fruits in the coming months, years.
But today you are a turnip.
And today, I feel my first sense of pride in you.
I can just hear the teacher saying,
“A turnip! Wow! That’s a strong and well grown vegetable.”
Much stronger than the days you were an avocado or a pear.

Last night I held my hands on you,
waiting for you to flop your vegetable body and kick your vegetable feet.
Wondering if you could hear my heart beat,
if it was too loud, kept you awake nights.
Or if you could sense the moment
when I started to miss your Dad.
Well, just so you know,
now that you are a turnip,
I sure don’t feel as empty when we're away from him.

Your turnip-ness has established your permanency; your purpose.
Your roots are fortified.
And year after year,
you will grow.

And we will be here.
Paring away the earth,
plucking your greens,
harvesting your best days,
and discarding your worst.

Happy February!

Sorry, we have not posted in a while! January was a busy and cold month. Mom and Dad had three snow days which made it nice to spend some extra time with Parker. We even had a fourth snow day on Mike's birthday! What a fun day to be at home!

Parker also had a terrible stomach virus and is now suffering from his first bad cold. We are hoping that Spring is around the corner!!

We will post some pictures of Parker's second Valentines day in the coming week! Hope everyone is staying warm this winter!

XO,

Bridgette and Mike
